Members of Reflexology organizations and the International Council of Reflexologists (ICR) are educating the public and bringing communities together through healthy soles.

The ICR is working together with its members and other Reflexology organizations to coordinate similar events world-wide to celebrate World Reflexology Week and bring awareness for a healthier world. Each year World Reflexology Week is designated as the last full week in September.

If you are unfamiliar with Reflexology, it is defined as a natural healing art, scientifically based on the premise that there are reflex areas in the extremities (feet, hands, ears and face) which correspond to all organs, glands and pars of the body. There are approximately 7,200 nerve endings per foot! Applying specific pressure and techniques using thumbs, hands and fingers result in stress reduction, relaxation, improved blood circulation and lymphatic movement which cause physiological changes in the body, and induces the body’s innate ability to heal. Not to be mistaken, Reflexology is much deeper than a “foot massage”.

A comprehensive foot session is approximately 45 to 60 minutes, but can also induce a relaxation response in the body in just 30 minutes. Studies conducted using control groups have proven the positive results regular Reflexology sessions have on restoring health and preventing illness*.
